detroit is not dead: welcome city bird!

the brother-sister power duo of emily and andy linn, known as city bird, has been making lovely detroit-themed goods for a while now, and have been selling online, at craft fairs, and at boutiques all over the place. recently they opened their own brick & mortar shop in midtown detroit! their space at 460 w. canfield features a studio, store and gallery. in addition to oodles of city bird items, the store is also home to handmade work from a variety of local artists and designers.

we're excited to be included in the mix, as dang argyle recently delivered city bird a stash of wallets and pouches to be sold on consignment at the store! thanks, city bird, and goood luck on your retail adventure! :)

DUCF wrap up

another great year for the detroit urban craft fair! this show is so fun to be a part of. the majestic theater was packed most of the day and there was a great group of vendors. thanks to all the shoppers who came out, and a big thanks the handmade detroit gals for putting on another great fair. i didn't get to browse much, but i did get a really cool coffee sack purse from val at make-out goods. (i was long overdue for a new bag!)

we won't be updating the shop just yet, as we're vending at the holiday baar bazaar in detroit on december 5th! more on that later.

last minute DUCF preps- are you ready!?

this week has been a mad dash to the finish line that is still 2 days away- DUCF! we're still working on getting things done. it is going to be such a fun day! do plan to come out and shop, get some christmas shopping started. i know, it's early for me too, but why not start it off with a bang with some stellar local and handmade gifts!? DUCF will have almost 60 local artists with a variety of items including jewelry, knitware, ceramics, soap, clothing, books, paper goods, posters, purses, wallets, nightlights, and so much more. stuff for kids, adults, your man, your lady, and even your dog. always the forest posted a great blog on things to do before/after DUCF while you're in detroit.

dang argyle will have new bags, pocket wallets, pocket pouches, other pouches, a variety of michigan notecards, and funny family foto cards.

seriously, for me, DUCF is like three christmases and a family reunion wrapped into one. a glowing day where all is well with the world. i can't wait! see you there...

twas 3 days before ducf and her iron dies...

yeah, so my iron died. it's been dying for a while, leaking water, not auto-shutting off. but it was hot and ironing! *i'll get one after the craft fair* i kept saying. tonight i had a stack of things to iron with some interfacing and it decided to pour all the water out onto the purse. this was not very nice. (the purse is now drying and i'm on to cutting things out & watching dexter instead.) i've had some woes with irons since dang argyle began. (see here.) this is my fourth iron?? i have lost count. so, buy a new iron is first on my list of things to do tomorrow after work.

bowling for kip

this new pouch is dedicated to kip. he worked at the bowling alley we used to bowl at all the time. heck, maybe he still works there. he looked like kip so we called him kip. i think we were his favorite bowling patrons, going there every thursday for a year or two or something crazy. did we really do that? seems so long ago, so foreign, yet it feels like yesterday. we have a long list of folks we bowled with: the bowling mafia. are you on the list?
